Dahal, Baidya talks make no headway
In an apparent effort to save the party from splitting, the
establishment faction and hard-line faction of the UCPN (Maoist) held
three-hour long talks on Tuesday. However, the talks failed to make
headway.
Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal along with the leaders close to him went to the residence of Mohan Baidya, the harder liner leader, to take him into confidence.
“But the talks were abstract,” Baidya told eKantipur. “He [Chairman Dahal] said let’s unite. And we are also positive about the idea.”
He added that they talked and agreed to review the weaknesses.
After the meeting, Chairman Dahal said the discussion was positive. He added that they have agreed to meet again on Wednesday as leader Baidya did not put forth any concrete proposal.
“We had a long conversation, but could not arrive at any result,” said Baiday.
