The major four political forces have decided to go for fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) election as they failed to agree on reinstatement of the dissolved assembly.
A meeting of the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) held at Army Integration Special Committee's secretariat in Naya Baneshwor agreed to concentrate on fresh election, putting an end to the debate on CA reinstatement.
Though ruling partners in the coalition government, UCPN (Maoist) and UDMF, had proposed to settle the disputes related to the constitution writing and revive the CA for a short period to promulgate new constitution, could not forge consensus on the reinstatement as no parties showed flexibility on their stances, mainly on the restructuring of the state. NC and UML leaders put strong reservation on the Maoist proposal to reinstate the CA.
Emerging from the meeting Maoist spokesperson Agni Sapkota said that they agreed to hold fresh election of the CA.
Similarly, NC general secretary Krishna Sitaula said that they agreed to hold fresh CA election under the unity government and the discussions would be focused on the procedure of election from tomorrow.
"We will hold meeting from Friday and reach concrete conclusion on election issues," he said.
The UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal also said possibility of reinstating the CA had ended from today. -Nepalnews
