EC directs govt to halt Nepal Police transfers
KATHMANDU, JUN 19 - Election Commission on Tuesday has directed to halt the transfers of
Nepal Police officials as decided by the government yesterday.
According to EC spokesperson Sharada Prasad Trital, EC wrote a letter to Chief Secretary Madhav Ghimire to hold the transfer orders.
Government on Monday had decided to transfer 5 Additional Inspector Generals (AIG) and 19 Deputy Superintendent of Polices (DIG).
EC directed to hold the transfers as EC deemed that the transfers could affect the Election Code of Conduct. The date of the upcoming election has been tentatively set for November 22.
