CIAA to book TIA scammers
KATHMANDU, AUG- The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority is preparing to file a case against those involved in irregularities while constructing a helipad and overlaying runway s at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
“We are close to complete the investigation and the officials found guilty will be booked immediately,” said CIAA spokesperson Shreedhar Sapkota.
The anti-graft body had started probing the scams acting on the order of the parliamentary body defunct at present, the Public Account Committee. It had asked the CIAA to probe irregularities and punish those involved after the newly-built helipad at the TIA crumbed within four months of its construction and the 3,048m runway overlay caved in. The helipad construction cost was Rs 27 million, while the runway was overlaid for Rs 240 million. -ekantipur
