KATHMANDU, MAY 16 - The government has formed a probe panel to investigate the Nepal Airlines crash that took place at Jomsom airstrip in Mustang district on Thursday.
In a press statement, the Ministry for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation informed that a four-member panel headed by Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Director General Ram Prasad Neupane has been formed to look into the crash . Senior pilot of Tara Air Prabhakar Ghimire, Senior Aeronautical Engineer Meghendra Kumar Shrestha and Joint Secretary at Civil Aviation Ministry Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane are the members of the panel.
The panel has been asked to submit its report within the next two months.
A chartered flight of Nepal Airlines with 21 people onboard—including three crew members and eight Japanese tourists— crash ed while attempting to land at Jomsom airport in Mustang district, at 8.33 this morning.
The NA-9NABO Twin Otter that took off from Pokhara at 8.10 this morning skidded off the runway of Jomsom airstrip and crash ed onto the banks of Kaligandaki River at 8.33 am, multiple sources said. -Ekantipur
