Locals, police clash in Rautahat, one killed I
Police shot dead a person during a clash at Garuda in Rautahat district on Thursday morning. Police opened fire to resume transportation along the Gaur-Chandranikahapur road section at Garuda this morning, sources confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as Ramod Prasad Jaiswal, 30, of Laxmipur VDC of the district. Locals resorted to protest after the police personnel refused to take action against a tractor that had mowed down one Ram Shrestha Raut on June 28.
Local police station of Garuda informed that Police Inspector Suman Lamichane, among other police personnel, are injured in the clash. Police also fired 15 rounds of tear gas shells to take the situation under control. Police, however, refused claims of opening fire.
